What’s on this month

SEPTEMBER

Well that’s it – Summer is officially over, and the days are already getting shorter. That might mean that some of you will be turning on our wonderful new floodlights. Could I just remind those who are using them to please turn them off after you have used them. They might be free to use but are not free to run.

And if you are the last to leave – make sure that the clubhouse and gate are closed and locked when you go.

At the time of writing, we have (I think!) one Watford League match and one Hot Rackets match to be played before the Summer season officially comes to an end.

Overall, we’ve had a very successful year. In the Watford League, our Men’s C and D teams have both been promoted as divisional champions, as has our Ladies B team. Congratulations to the also promoted Mixed A team who were runners up in their division.

Our Ladies A and C teams are in the promotion mix, more on that soon.

Our Men’s A and B teams had tough seasons and have been relegated, but we’ll bounce back stronger in 2027 – no question.

In Hot Rackets, our Ladies A and B teams, and our Men’s B team have been promoted, and our Men’s A team is one win away from promotion.

We’re very proud of our competitive tennis offering with players spanning the ages from early teens to those further into their tennis journeys.

Thank you to the dozens of players who’ve represented the club this Summer and to the very many supporters who’ve cheered them on. Particular and huge thanks for the team captains – a lot of effort goes into getting a team onto court – we appreciate their hard work.

Already looking forward to next Summer – but don’t forget there will be some age group Winter tennis, plus the club Winter tournament, singles ladders and  match practice sessions.

Wednesday social is a fun night and if you haven’t been for a while, you really should come along.

Thursday has “Robs boys” named in memory of our much loved Rob Lambert who put this evening together for those men who wanted competitive tennis but not necessarily team matches. It continues in his name still.

Friday night we have more social time and Saturday morning the same.

Sunday morning has our most popular drop-in session run by Master Coach, Brian Linskey. Great fun.

But just a reminder – you do need to be a member to join any of these sessions and play at the Club.
