Chitchat from the Chair – News from CTC The Home of Tennis
It’s the 1st of August, and somehow we’ve made it to the final stretch of the summer season. Where did the time go? Probably lost between a few missed volleys and too many trips to the bar.
Before we get into this week’s action, a huge thank you to our fabulous team captains, and especially to our Club Captain Tony Mays-organising teams, juggling fixtures, and still smiling (most of the time). A normally thankless task, but very much appreciated.
Speaking of club legends, Jon Taffel and I are currently recovering from a rather civilised (read: slightly over-indulgent) day at The Oval yesterday.
Cricket, sun, and possibly a few too many refreshments. But fear not-we’ll be back in Croxley action this evening…
Because tonight (Friday), we’re cheering on our Mixed B Team, who are celebrating promotion-as long as they don’t lose more than 6:3, according to their ever-calm and not-at-all-stressed manager, Mr Taffel.
Our Mixed A Team just missed out, but what a season-style, spirit, and sensational effort.
Saturday, our Hot Rackets Ladies A hit the road to Brookmans Park-go well, team!
And then the rarest of fixtures… Men’s B Team play back-to-back in fight to head of relegation:
Monday vs Radlett B
Tuesday vs St Albans B
